October 2006 at Ye Olde Wine Shoppe
Hello Friends,
With each passing day, we are hopeful that the intersection of Crooks and South Blvd will reopen, and once again our customers have reasonable access to the
store. Its been a difficult last month, and we hope that by the end of October, South Blvd will be completely resurfaced and traffic will be much better going east
and west. We greatly appreciate everyone's support during these 'construction periods' and apologize for the irregular hours during the last couple of weeks.
Oct 3rd update—SOUTH BLVD. IS OPEN!
On a happier note, our winetasting at The Reserve on Sept. 18th was a very enjoyable evening. The wines, fine food and conversation were abundant and the response to the wine selections very positive. Thanks to all who attended.
October is one of the biggest months for new releases to hit the shelves and we will be highlighting many of them in this e-mail. We are also closing in the election and a number of very important holidays. As the pace picks up, please keep Ye Olde Wine Shoppe in mind for any of those special items that you may need. Remember, Halloween treats can be something besides candy and apple cider.

Bordeaux 2005 Futures
As we continue to sell our dwindling selection of 2003 Red Bordeaux, I have been asked many times if we are going to do a pre-sell of the highly acclaimed 2005 vintage. My answer has been ‘sort of’ to that question. I have purchased some wines from this great vintage as ‘futures’ but in a very limited and select quantity. This is a great vintage by all reports, with the Wine Advocate calling it “a remarkable as well as consistent vintage..”. The other side of the coin is that the top 50-75 wines have increased their prices as much as three to four times that of the 2003 vintage. Apparently, there is great demand for these over priced ‘trophy wines’ in the far east, especially in China with their booming economy. My thought is let them have them, there are plenty a wonderful and affordable wines from the vintage and we are offering a very limited selection of them as Futures.
This offering will extend until December 31, 2006 and cancels all previous offerings. All wines must be paid for at the time of the order and Michigan State Sales Tax of 6% will be added to your total. Wines should arrive in late 2007 and early 2008 and you will be notified upon their arrival. You will receive written documentation for you order when it is confirmed. Inquiries should be directed to Denny Walsh at Ye Olde Wine Shoppe. Tasting Notes are from The Wine Advocate & The Wine Spectator.
